Terms of Service

These terms apply when you buy knives, blades or courses from mattisslojd.com. The seller is Mattis Slöjd, a one-person craft business run by Mattias Höög in Stallarholmen, Sweden.

By completing an order you accept these terms. Your Swedish statutory consumer rights (for example the 14-day right of withdrawal) always apply alongside them.

All prices are shown in euros (EUR). VAT is included where applicable. Prices and stock levels can change between visits, but the price shown when you complete your order is the price you pay.

Your order is binding once the payment has gone through. We confirm your order by email. In the unlikely event of a pricing or product error, we will contact you before proceeding; you can then confirm the corrected order or cancel it free of charge.

Payments are handled by Stripe in a secure checkout embedded on this site. Your card details are entered directly into Stripe — we never see or store your full card number.

Depending on your country, Stripe may also offer local payment methods such as Klarna, card payments or bank transfers. Available methods are shown at checkout.

Every knife and blade is made by hand in Stallarholmen, Sweden. In-stock items are dispatched as soon as possible after payment. Items marked as pre-order are crafted to order and can take up to 6 months to complete — the expected wait is stated on the product page before you order.

You receive a confirmation with tracking details when your parcel ships. Delivery times after dispatch depend on the carrier and your country.

As a consumer in the EU you have 14 days from receiving your item to withdraw from the purchase. Our full return policy — including how to request a return, return shipping, made-to-order exceptions and refunds for uncollected non-EU parcels — is published at mattisslojd.com/returns and forms part of these terms.

Pre-order items are crafted specifically for you. You may cancel a pre-order at any time before crafting begins, with a full refund. Once crafting is underway, statutory exceptions to the right of withdrawal for made-to-order goods apply.

If a pre-order is significantly delayed beyond the stated estimate, you may cancel for a full refund of the amount paid.

The Knife Sharpening Masterclass is delivered digitally. When you order, you consent to immediate access; under EU rules, digital content that has been accessed is not covered by the right of withdrawal and cannot be refunded once access has been activated.

In-person courses are booked through our course platform (Understory). Your booking, payment and cancellation for physical courses follow the booking platform's terms shown at the time of booking.

Import duties, tariffs, taxes and carrier fees may apply for deliveries outside the EU unless duties are explicitly prepaid. You must read and accept this notice at checkout before the order can be completed.

If such charges are refused or left unpaid and the parcel is returned to us, any refund is issued only after the parcel arrives back in Stallarholmen, and outbound and return postage, customs charges and carrier fees incurred are deducted from the refund. This matches section 6 of our return policy.

If an item arrives damaged or has a crafting defect, contact info@mattisslojd.com with photos and your order number. We will repair it, replace it, or issue a full refund including return postage.

Under Swedish consumer law you also have a right to complain about faults (reklamationsrätt) for three years from delivery, provided the fault was present at delivery and you notify us within a reasonable time.

Carving knives and blades are sharp cutting tools intended for wood carving by people old enough to use such tools lawfully and safely. Keep them out of reach of children, use protective equipment and appropriate technique, and never use them under the influence of alcohol or medication.

You are responsible for using the tools as intended. Damage caused by misuse, incorrect sharpening angles outside our guidance, or neglect is not covered by a crafting defect.

Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under mandatory Swedish or EU consumer law. Apart from that, our liability is limited to the amount you paid for the item concerned.

We are not liable for indirect losses, or for delays or errors caused by carriers, customs authorities or payment providers.

Swedish law applies to purchases from mattisslojd.com. As a consumer you can also turn to Allmänna reklamationsnämnden (ARN, arn.se) for free dispute resolution, or use the EU's online dispute resolution platform. The European Commission's ODR platform is available at ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr.

The terms in force when you place your order apply to that order. If we update these terms, the current version is always published on this page.
