Cooking spoon "Småland"

SEK 275.00

Hand carved cooking spoon made from birch wood. Specifically designed to be as comfortable to use as possible with its right or left handed flat bowl. All the wood that is not necessary has been removed to make the spoon light and slim while still being rigid enough to scrape the bottom of the pan without breaking.

This design is a slightly modified version of a traditional Swedish cooking spoon originating from the county of Småland, hence the name. The front is squewed to be more comfortable for your dominant hand, while the original is symmetrical and works ambidextrously. The rounded sides are used to scrape food from the sides of the pan while cooking or serving. The flat front is used to scrape the bottom of the pan to prevent burnt food, and can also be used as a shovel to lift the food or serve it.

Birch is the most common wood to make spoons from. It is a very homogenous and tough hard wood that is strong in all directions and withstands the force of cracking when put in water. All spoons are also treated with a special food safe raw linseed oil that thoroughly hardens, meaning that it doesn't leatch into the food and won't require maintenance in the future.
